Short answer. Since 19 December 2025, 2b2t has a rulebook. Officially: no hateful or political builds, no harassment anywhere, no bots, no lag, no spam. In practice, documented from punishments: no profanity in chat, on signs or map art, no discussing punishments, no criticising the admins, no VPNs. Griefing, hacking and killing are still allowed. Penalties run from mutes to losing priority queue to permanent bans.
The timeline
- 19 December 2025. 2b2t publishes new terms and a post, Transparency on Recent Changes, saying the update was made “to comply with an official notice from Mojang / Microsoft.” Players must follow the Minecraft Usage Guidelines, Minecraft Community Standards and Xbox Community Standards.
- 26 December 2025. The penalty wording changes from “temporarily disabled” to “temporarily or permanently disabled”. Hard bans are now permanent.
- 12 January 2026. A chat filter goes live. It matches substrings, so ordinary words containing a blocked string are silently swallowed too.
- February 2026. Profanity is blocked in chat, on signs and in map art by an automated system; hateful builds are removed by hand and the builder may be banned. Players are encouraged to report each other by email.
The official terms, verbatim
From 2b2t.org/terms:
- “Do not attempt to undermine the server’s efforts to provide every player an equal and fair playing environment, through means such as abusing any exploit, bug or flawed game mechanic to cause server disruption or lag.”
- “Do not flood the chat with repeated messages and spam (Example: Promoting 3rd party shops is not permitted).”
- “Do not automate any messages in the chat.”
- “Do not engage in or participate in any personal or real-life harassment, threats or bullying whatsoever, either in-game or an external community.”
- “Do not create builds, structures, or any other content relating to harmful ideas, hateful symbols, or hateful speech.”
- Penalties: “You may have your chat privileges temporarily or permanently disabled” and “You may have your access to the server temporarily or permanently disabled, depending on the severity.”
Read those carefully. “Either in-game or an external community” means a Discord argument can get you banned from the server. “Harmful ideas” and “hateful symbols” are decided by staff, which in practice covers political and extremist builds. And the Xbox Community Standards the terms point to are where slurs and hate speech are prohibited.
The unofficial rules, documented from punishments
2b2t has never published a complete rule list. 2Builders12Rules, a community project that collects punishment reports from players, maintains an unofficial list built from those reports and the shop terms. It comes with its own warning: “You may still get punished even though you didn’t break these rules.” Their list, lightly condensed:
- No automated chat or private messages, no spam, no advertising.
- Nothing that has “a negative impact on another player’s experience”: making players disconnect, bed trapping, lagging or crashing the server, exploits that attack players’ computers, spreading malware.
- No harassing, cyberbullying, demeaning, offending or threatening players in chat, private messages or on external platforms such as Discord.
- No sharing or threatening to share personal information, and no jokes about doxxing.
- No discussing punishments or rules, in-game or on external platforms.
- No alt accounts to evade a punishment.
- No criticising the admins.
- No claiming to be a punished player.
- No connecting through a VPN; VPN users are treated as possible alts.
- No username or skin that breaks a rule or looks like an alt.
- Nothing illegal.
- No helping anyone break these rules.
Rules 5, 7 and 9 are the ones people do not expect on a server that sold itself for fifteen years on having none.
The punishment ladder

Appeals go to support@2b2t.org. Players report that emails are usually ignored.
What is still allowed
Griefing, killing, trapping, stealing, lying, and hacked clients. The gameplay is still anarchy. What changed is everything around it: what you may say, what you may build, whom you may argue with, and how you may connect.
How players reacted
- On r/2b2t, a post titled “2b2t is no longer anarchy” complaining that you “cant even write curse words on signs anymore” was removed by the moderators. The screenshot on r/2b2t_Uncensored.
- The terms themselves were posted as a meme, “New rules LMFAO”, with “permanently disabled” circled.
- “Its over. 2b2t has fallen.”: “You cant even talk about the issues on the main 2b2t sub without being immediately censored.”
- Players reported staff removing two large sky-art builds that broke neither the terms nor Mojang’s rules, and stripping priority queue from more than twenty players nearby without refunds. The PSA, with a warning to request chargebacks. These are player reports; 2b2t has not commented.
What it means if you are choosing a server
