Can you get banned on 2b2t? All eight punishments

What each 2b2t punishment does, how to tell which one you have been given, whether hacking still gets you banned, and what happens when you appeal.

Short answer. Eight punishments are documented, from a mute up to an IP ban. Since 19 December 2025 the terms say access can be disabled permanently. Griefing, killing and hacking are still not punished. Almost everything you can be punished for now involves chat, builds or behaviour toward other players. Appeals go to support@2b2t.org and players report they are usually ignored.

The punishments players have documented

Documented by 2Builders12Rules, a community project that collects punishment reports from players, since 2b2t has never published its own list. The eight types below are that list as 2Builders12Rules lays it out, recorded on the 2b2t wiki.

Punishment What happens How you can tell
Soft mute You cannot send chat messages Nothing you type in public chat reaches anyone
PM mute You cannot send private messages Public chat still works, but your /msg never arrives
Hard mute Soft mute and PM mute together Nothing you send reaches anyone, in chat or in private
Prio strip Priority queue removed, then kicked You rejoin at the back of the regular queue
Prio ban Priority removed and you cannot buy it again The shop refuses the purchase
Blacklist Every blacklisted account online is kicked in waves You are disconnected repeatedly, often within minutes
IP ban Every account logged in from that address is prio banned, hard muted and added to the blacklist A fresh account arrives already punished
Bed ban You cannot use a bed to set a respawn point The bed does nothing when you click it

A kick is not one of these. Admins do disconnect players mid-session, but a kick is not a punishment type on this list and it leaves nothing on your account. If you can rejoin the queue normally, you were kicked, not punished. Full account bans are described as rare and have never been confirmed.

On the blacklist, note the detail players report: sending or receiving a private message flags your presence to moderators, so a blacklisted account gets found faster if it talks to anyone.

Am I muted, or is it the filter?

These look identical from inside the game and they are completely different things.

  • The chat filter blocks specific messages. Type something harmless and it goes through; type a message containing a blocked letter sequence and it silently disappears. It is automatic and applies to everyone. How the filter works.
  • A mute is applied to your account. Nothing you send reaches anyone, no matter what it says.

Test it with a plain message like “hello”. If that arrives, you are filtered, not muted. If it does not, you are muted.

What actually gets you punished

Still allowed, and this has not changed: griefing, killing, stealing, trapping, lying and hacked clients. The gameplay is unchanged.

What is punishable, per 2b2t’s own terms and the community-documented list:

  • Builds or content “relating to harmful ideas, hateful symbols, or hateful speech”
  • Harassment, threats or bullying, “either in-game or an external community”, which includes Discord
  • Chat spam, automated messages, advertising third-party shops
  • Running bots. They are banned in waves, with whole fleets of accounts removed at once
  • Exploits that cause lag or crash the server, and anything that attacks other players’ computers
  • Discussing punishments or rules
  • Criticising the admins
  • Connecting through a VPN, which is treated as possible alt-account use
  • Using alt accounts to evade a punishment

Are bans permanent?

They can be. On 19 December 2025 the rewritten terms said access could be permanently disabled, where the old wording had only described temporary blocks while an exploit was patched. Two days later the sentence was softened to “temporarily or permanently”. 2b2t’s terms now read: “You may have your access to the server temporarily or permanently disabled, depending on the severity.”

How to appeal

Send an email to support@2b2t.org with your username and what happened. Players who have tried report that appeals are usually ignored and that no reason is given for the original punishment. There is no appeal form, no ticket system and no published process.

The priority queue problem

In 2026 players reported staff removing priority queue from more than twenty accounts in one night, including from players who happened to be near a build that was deleted rather than having built it. No refunds were issued. Some players recommended requesting chargebacks from their payment provider instead. The original report.

2b2t has not commented on it. This is a player account, not a confirmed policy, but it is worth knowing before spending $19.99 a month on a service that can be withdrawn without explanation.
